Is this 16800 genuine / with correct parts?
Hi all,
I'm looking this 16800 with some concerns and I'm going to take it to AD next week, but wanted your help first and to save me the trip and cost: 1. Serial number i 6,6 mil and with engraved "Registered design", which doesn't correspond to these observations: http://www.doubleredseadweller.com/w...n-vs-orig.html http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=142482 2. Seller claims that bracelet and endlnks are original, however the end links are stamped 593 but has no "flaps"? 3. 93150 bracelet looks to be in too good condition, but could have been polished. The clasp code dates to around 1980 which sounds correct, but the clasp could have been put on a newer 93150 bracelet? 4. The clasp locking mechanism is off, its completely bend, is that normal, perhaps the watchmaker has been to rough with it? Also the pin in the clasp lock looks different from other photos i have seen online? 5. On the certificate, where the stamp from the AD is, it looks like a sticker has been taken off, there is glue lefteovers right where the purchase date is written. Any other comments?? I would very much appreciate your input and help! |

The watch itself looks good except for the endlinks and maybe the bracelet.
The 593 endlinks should have the flaps and the printing should be smaller. My guess is the endlink is aftermarket. The bracelet is questionable though - the printing on the clasp showing 93150 looks odd to me and agree the condition is too new for its age. Wait for others to chime in. |

Welcome to the Forum.
Looks like you have a nice watch with papers. the partial serial (6.6) places it around 1981/82, the bracelet coded VE about a 1980. The clasp looks fine and so do the 593s (no ears).. Hard to comment on whether the clasp was placed on newer sections since you do not picture them... |

Im not really sure about those end links. My "593" end links all have the little ears. Nice looking piece though.

Have you ever seen "no ears" before, I'm concerned about this? The link also looks bend, so I'm thinking aftermarket... The date wheel has silver finish, which should be correct, what makes you think it's service? |

I saw your thread on omega forum. I didn't want to comment but after seeing it here too might as well. Just buy the seller. A watch that old that has some replacement parts isn't uncommon. The papers matching the watch is also a plus for the age.
