Soap, water , a toothbrush and it will be good as new. I love all the TT blue subs but I really love the colour of the non-ceramic bezel. Maybe if I stumble across a good deal on one of those......

I know I'll get bashed for this but honestly I just don't get it. Why subject an expensive gold watch to those conditions which looks to be concrete debris? Sure, others will say not to baby it or that it can take a beating and any damage will be rectified at service time. But would you purposely subject your car or phone or computer to possible damage. Probably not. So why do it with an expensive watch? Somebody enlighten me.

I have been wondering the same thing. I get not worrying about minor scratches and such but to me, in my humble opinion, this is bordering the ridiculous. Now if $13,000 is an absolute minuscule amount of money to a person then I can completely understand this. I take very good care of all my expensive things but there is a difference between not becoming overly obsessive about a scratch on your BMWs grill from a rock on the freeway and taking that same $90,000 car offroad in the mud. I would like to know how many people here purposely beat the crap out of their $10,000-$70,000 Rolexs just for kicks. And if you do why and also what other expensive luxury items do you do this to? Thanks. Should be some interesting answers. Perhaps we should start a thread on this question.

One more thing I had to add. All the people celebrating this type of behavior do you do the same thing to your watches? If so I would love to see pictures of you in the middle of beating the crap out of your watch. Thanks!

Also it's a submariner, it can take it. They are meant to be worn and worn hard. No babying it here.

Lol. I worked in the yard all day. It got mud on it and looked like a cool picture. Submariners are made to be bullet proof. Wear it anytime and anywhere. mud won't ruin this watch. People need to relax

I completely agree 100%. However you can also drive a Lamborghini up-and-down a dirt road. I think you get my point.

Well, it's your watch and you can obviously do what you want with it but I'm not buying the "meant to be worn hard" theory. It's not a dirt bike or off road vehicle.
You can do it but I wouldn't.

Agreed! the reason these watches are $13,000 are for this type of use! There's a reason they use sapphire crystals and 904L stainless. I can't really compete with the picture above but this is my old submariner after a long night in the hospital - I looked down in the morning to see splashes of blood on the bezel, crystal and lugs.

And of course they always clean up nicely. Well done my friend! The two tone looks spectacular! Dr Tom runs his platinum Daytona hard too! Just like he does his Porsches!

IMHO The reason why they are $13,000 is not just because of the top-of-the-line materials they use but also the name and the fact they are a luxury item. Also you most certainly could compete with him by taking one of your Rolexes outside this very moment and draging it across your yard and then taking a picture of it. We could hold a Rolex forum contest to see who could put the most scratches on their watch in the shortest amount of time.

Take it off next time. Having a beautiful watch that can handle difficult situations is one thing but needlessly abusing it is another.

Perhaps, but I think of it like gardening in a William Fioravanti suit and a nice pair of Ferragamo shoes.

Well my philosophy is I do what I do and watch stays on.

That said when changing brakes or fluid on race car, yes I have the watch on but usually gloves too!

And when I hit the roll cage with my watch and broke it, it was under the glove

I changed the plugs and coils on my Porsche today. As I'm sure you know, there's not a lot of room in there so I took my sub off. Why someone would deliberately chance damaging beautiful watch and then revel in it is totally beyond anything I can understand. To me it seems like totally weird macho bullshit, kind of like those guys who purposefully drive thir Land Rovers through mud for the effect and then leave it that way for all to admire.

I agree, and I do what the watches were purpose built for with no worries but I do try to use some common sense

I do a lot of work on the race car at the track but always wear gloves, but watch is always on
