Where do you set your watch down?

For those of you who don't use a winding case or specifically built for watches case, where do you set your watches down?

My 18k YG President's Rolex just finished up getting serviced so I'll be picking it up over Easter weekend. I've been looking into a few leather Watch Pads to set it down on so as not to scratch the band simply from setting it down. For anyone who has something similar, any recommendations?

A pair of socks makes a discrete storage containment system for an 18k: wad up one of the socks to put inside the bracelet so the links and clasp don't contact the back of the case, then pull the other sock over the unit to protect all the outside. I generally use clean socks, but individual preferences vary. Socks with a high natural fiber content are preferable because they "breathe" better.

As for a discrete storage system I've already got a book safe I plan on using. I can just stick it in with the rest of my books and no one will be the wiser.

I'm more looking for an overnight/getting in the shower/going to the gym type placement pad -- something that can be quick and easy since that will mainly be the times I'm setting it down on a dresser.

I normally fold a polishing cloth in half and slide it between the bracelet and bottom casing, then put it in traveling pouch.

I just put my watches in a convenient place around the apartment when not on my wrist.

The expensive ones live at the bank are just placed the safe deposit box.

I don't sweat this stuff.

These are great! I just had to order one for my wife, cause she likes to put her diamond ring and diamond earrings in my valet before I go to sleep and try to booby trap my watch. Always have to check it now before dropping my watch in.

Yeah they are pretty perfect for my needs. I usually take the watch off and then put my wedding ring in the middle of the watch band (not touching of course!!)

My wife has her own stash spots

though mine was tossed decades ago, isn't this one of the reasons for keeping the original green box?

Where else would you put a tool watch? Well, in a tool box, of course*!!!

Kidding. Sock drawer wrapped within more socks, as others mentioned.

Ever look into a nice dresser-top valet? Nice little tray for all your EDC (every day carry), some have notches/slots for watches and they look pretty sophisticated.

Post pics of what you decide on!

My sons gave me a 4-watch jewelry box for Christmas a ways back. My Tudor Submariner occupies slot number 2 from the right. The other 3 slots are for my dress watch and 2 Casios.

Always put my watches back in my box when the day is over and for good measure give it a quick cleaning with a cloth. My wife thinks im a maniac😂 but i just bought her a 114200 op for Christmas and it has more scratches than my 20 year old 16613😀

On top of a polishing cloth on my nightstand.

Put it on when I leave the bedroom in the morning, take it off before I get into bed.

Sometimes I don't bother to remove it, but when I do I just put it on the dresser. It's not getting any more scratches than it picks up from normal use anyway.

I got one of those leather tray things too, I guess it would be easy for someone to spot and steal my watch(s) but I guess that's a risk I can live with. Unfortunately my wife thinks its a place to put her random jewelry in there too haha. I like it just since it is an easy place to sit things down in and remember where you put them.
