36mm Explorer I for wife?

Trying to find a thank you gift for my wife. A) is it low class to buy a pre owned watch for your SO? B) I like this explorer I 36mm for its size, everyday looks, and price.

Thoughts?

only you know your wife. my wife wouldn't care if it was pre-owned, but i'd probably let her pick one out herself.

Nothing wrong with a preowned piece.
The 36mm Exp looks great on a ladies wrist. Or any wrist for that matter.

A) Not at all.

B) As long as you think she'll like it I wouldn't hesitate at all. It's a great looking and classic watch.

a) Depends on your SO's attitude to such things. It could be that she'd prefer a new different model (on the basis that an Explorer is nothing to get excited about)
b) I love the 36mm Explorer, but maybe she'd prefer something a little more feminine. 36mm on my SO's wrist looks just too much, to be honest.

Definitely not low class to buy a preowned watch. Most times its a smart move.

While I like the Explorer style, there is also the Oyster Perpetual & DJ lines to consider that might have more feminine dial options. I like manly watches, I wear a Sub, so she might be ok with an Explorer. Does she want a black dial? Does she want THAT watch? If it has to be a surprise, make sure you dig around for clues & pay attention to what she says she likes. If it does not have to be a surprise, the safest thing to do is let her choose her watch.

I love mine. I wear big [40mm Panerei] and small watches [ladies reverso 25mm] for a woman's wrist. It's all about the style not the size [though I think 40 is as large as I could ever go without it looking "too" large], and the exp1 looks great imo. It's certainly had compliments and been noticed. And I've seen a couple of other women in London wearing it and carrying it off beautifully. Love it on a guy's wrist too. Though having said all this the other posters were spot on when they said you should ask her what she prefers. I'd be actively disappointed to receive a pearlmaster from my SO since it just "isn't me" and I know some women would feel the same about the Exp1. Unless you are very very confident about her sense of style best to have a chat with her first about the styles she might like before spending so much money!

In general I would say not ideal but if she likes more masculine watches it is a great choice

If she appreciates someone else taking the depreciation, then not at all. You could always send it to Rik, Vanessa or RSC for a full service and polish before giving it to her so it's in LNIB condition.

And yes, 36 mm looks great on most women. Now that my wife has moved up to 34 & 36, she's sold off her old 27mm "ladies" watch.

I feel like I know my wife pretty good, and she wouldn't care one bit if I bought her a pre-owned Rolex...and in fact, the 1st one I bought for her was! And 2nd, I think a 36 Explorer I would look great.

My wife thinks the explorer looks too masculine for her. It's best to go to an AD and see what she likes, though that can be dangerous at the same time. Goodluck!

1) Not low class at all. Its smart and she should appreciate that! And its none of her business where u got it anyway. 2) I mean thats the same watch I wear and its basically a mountain climbers watch so I don't think think its the best choice for a lady. pre-loved ladies DJ I would consider instead.
