The important facts about buying a used Rolex?
Hi,
I am a new member. I would like to start by thanking all of you, the members for writing the posts I have been keen on. Thanks! I am in the market for a newly new Deep Sea. What would be the key facts to look out for when buying a nearly new or used DS? Cheers |

Hi, I would say :
*buy through a reputable pre owned seller (watchfinder, watches.co.uk, blowers etc) *ensure box and papers are in tact (warranty card) *serial number matches the warranty card *extra links included in sale? If you go to any of the more known sites, watch finder etc, they offer a 14 day no quibble return. So you can get the watch checked in Rolex if you have any issue. But you will be paying more to purchase through the them for that peice of mind, instead of doing a deal directly and getting sold a fake.. |

If you're shopping on this site. One simple tip - buy the seller. Trust is the most important thing. Anything else you should be able to find with a google search

Just buy a Deepsea D-blue from an AD, you will have to wait a few months, but it is cheaper than grey market and if it's your first, you will have no regrets...

Whenever you buy used, you're taking a risk. Make sure the seller isn't a fly-by night deal, and send the watch in for maintenance to a Rolex dealership. They'll pull it apart and this will confirm if the watch is good. Now, if the deal you're getting on the used watch is nullified by the extra cost to send it in for the service, your best bet is to just by brand new from an authorized dealer.

Buy the Seller not the Watch...or just deal with a Rolex AD like I do and no worries. It's a large investment...better safe than sorry.

This is the golden rule of buying second hand or even new grey market pieces.

Thanks for your comments! I am the owner or mere custodian of a 2005 GMT Coke stainless. Bought it from new, definitely the best purchase I ever made. I have been keen on a brand new Explorer II until I spotted a deepsea on a gent in my local pub. I love it!! So now I have a new love affair. I am trying lessen the cost by buying a decent used. If I can get one at the right money that is, oh yeah and if I dare part with that kind of cash!!
