Looking to add new watch to Collection
Hello Rolex Forum,
I'm going to purchase a new rolex in the near future and was curious which model would you recommend? Currently own a SS GMT master Pepsi bezel and a TT Submariner Blue face. I haven't purchased a new Rolex since 1992 and was looking for something a bit more dressy to transition over to a suit or tux in the evening. I love the Sky Dweller but not looking to spend 40K on a watch at this time. All thoughts appreciated understand it's subjective thing. Thanks, Dave |

Hi,
The options that immediately spring to mind would be a Datejust (either in two-tone or full gold) or a Day-Date, depending on budget. But I'm going to play devil's advocate here and suggest something else: have you thought about a Cellini ? If you've not bought a new Rolex since 1992 and aren't too familiar with goings on since then, the Cellini range was completely re-vamped in 2014, and all pieces are now 39mm with automatic movements and 50 meter water-resistance, in white or rose gold. If you're looking for something dressier to go with a suit or tuxedo, well, that's about as dressy as it gets for Rolex. |

I think the DJ2 gives you what you're looking for, with quite a lot of bang for the buck. You can go fluted or smooth bezel depending on what look you're after.
Other thoughts: Saw and tried on the new 39mm OP yesterday, fantastic. Also, the new EXP unveiled at Basel...yummy. And the new Daytona. I think any of these would fit the bill. |

Hey Dave,
Do you have a sense of budget? South of the Skydweller is pretty wide open. Datejust is full of options although the only all gold datejust is 36mm; not sure if you want to look at that size. You've got a blue and black dial in sports watches, maybe a DJ in an alternate color or if you're looking into precious metals, the day dates have a number of interesting dials. |
