Another noob question: COSC?

I am thinking this means "Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified" but the acronym is a little off. Someone please help clarify.

Godspeed,

Ty

Here's a little blurb:

Creation of the COSC

"Founded in 1973 in its current structure, the COSC is a not-for-profit association. It was created by five watchmaking cantons (Bern, Geneva, Neuchâtel, Solothurn and Vaud) as well as the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry. It encompasses the laboratories that had been established independently of each other from the late 19th century onwards. "

As for the Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified............That is just Rolex babble.. It just means "Chronometer"

No, the Sub no date was not until this year even though it had the same movement as the Sub Date.

Not all of the Air kings and date models are COSC either. I am a bit confused by this as the movements are the same as the ones that are but they have just not been tested.
