Scarce ref. 6532 Deep Sea (project)
This is a fully-functional 6532, with the flat case-sides and original bracelet, but a few issues that need to be disclosed.
Imagine you are rooting in an old barn and find an intact classic car that someone has tried, very poorly, to turn into a custom hot-rod. Most of the original components are there, and it would not be a stretch to turn it back into a “stock” classic. That’s exactly what this 6532 project is like. The dial is missing. The dial that is mounted on the watch is the wrong dial, and it is a repaint. There are dials for the 6532 around, you might even have one, but the dial, as with many classic and rare models, is most of the value of the watch. I found one available on eBay for $1350, I considered that too much for a Deepsea dial without the “Deepsea” logo. There are three 6532 dial configurations that I know of: the Deepsea, the plain light-colored, and the bulls-eye. Otherwise, the “bones” of this project are good: decent, polished, slab-sided 6532 case with visible model and serial numbers, case-back not too abused, original hands, and the much-sought Big Crown bracelet (not perfect, but not unattractive). It has one of the cleanest 1030 movements my watchmaker has ever seen, fully functional and recently serviced. As you can see, the crystal is neither original nor intact. If you have a 6532 Deepsea dial somewhere in your parts collection, mount it on this watch and end up with an example that is worth likely $7-9K, no kidding. Or consider this an investment in some excellent vintage parts: the bracelet alone is worth a substantial amount, and you won’t find a better 1030 butterfly rotor movement. The photos were taken in my watchmaker's shop, I have some more photos available if it will help with a decision. Do not hesitate to ask questions, I want very much to sell this piece, but I want whosoever buys it to be absolutely satisfied with what they are getting. $3800 OBRO.
