Another Franken-tudor?

I am new to this forum and new to the 7928 in general. But in my short weeks of free-time study ...I gather that the 7928, together with perhaps the 7016, are one of the more faked or regularly Frankensteined Tudor references out there.

I stumbled over this and wanted to get your thoughts.

I don't see this as an outright fake, but the hands – especially the seconds hand over the chapter ring, raised a flag for me. Love to have your thoughts.

More generally, if anyone had the time to help either point to a really good reference book or website for both the 7928 and 7016, I'd really appreciate it. This is a very elusive reference,...understanding which combination of dial and hands has been used across references is proving difficult.

For one, the seller states the dial is probably finished. This may answer why the hands are over the chapter ring.

second the case is definitely not genuine, that engraving looks off.

With the above said, I would steer clear

Forgive my ignorance, but hands aligning with outer-track or chapter ring – this is always a tell that either the dial or hands are mis-matched – and is it just the seconds hand or the minute hand as well one should pay attention to? Just wondering if there are any hard and fast rules of thumb here when it comes to Tudor (or Rolex) subs and alignment of these.

Yeah the case back engraving looks very dodgy, I noticed that as well.

Had no plans to move on this one, but find the exercise of trying to spot fakes or frankens very helpful.

Still wondering if there is a resource specifically for Tudors, something akin to "Moonwatch Only" in the world of vintage Speedmasters...but for Tudor Subs.

The dial is refinished and I would guess the hands were replace as I assume it would have a big sweep (but that is not concrete). Caseback is fine VI.66

If it was not for the dial it would have been sold a while ago.

Well this watch is up to 4k now. Seems overpriced given the mis-match of parts.
