That is a bummer..wish you find it. I have all my pieces insured under State Farm and they are normally pretty good. That being said, go back and look for the dear piece. It is very possible its still there

Say a prayer, it couldn't hurt. Hope you find your watch.

This reminds me of a story about a friend of mine. She was going through a nasty divorce, going back and forth about the settlement. She had a HUGE Tiffany & Co. engagement ring, and in a moment of pique hurled it into the woods in the back yard. She told me and anyone else who listened that it was theirs if they could find it. We searched for THREE YEARS, as it was an awfully large stone, a vacation house on a band or a couple of Ivy League educations in portable form. We never found it. Long after the divorce, a landscaper who was trimming trees found the ring and brought it back to her. Sure enough, she refused it. Sure enough, that was the most profitable day of his career.
Good luck. |

neat story. When I was 10 years old (1969) I was at a lake in North Texas playing at the shoreline. We were taking clumps of mud and washing them off to see if there were shiny rocks inside. I grabbed a clump of mud and washed it off and inside was a college class ring. It was dated 1963 from Lehigh University in New Jersey. My uncle happened to live in New Jersey at the time and the next time they came to our house I gave it to him and he took it back to the university. They were able to track down the owner due to initials and class grad year. A few months later I got a letter in the mail explaining how it was lost on a water skiing trip in 1965. He thanked me and I was a happy 10 year old for doing a good deed.
I do hope the OP finds his watch. I know I would be sick thinking about it. Cheers, Tim Quote:

Update on the claims process. State Farm called yesterday and asked a couple questions. Said they would be mailing out a check for the appraised value since it was covered under the policy for Replacement cost.
Cell phone trace wont work because there is absolutely zero cell service at the ranch. Will be returning tomorrow with about 8 friends and a metal detector to try and trace back where we went. Claims guy said if I find it then I just send them their money back and it will be like a claim was never filed. If I dont find it I will replace it and they said my rates wont go up and they will not drop me. I am 30 years old have never filed an insurance claim which may have something to do with my rates wont go up and they wont drop me. |

I filed a claim for a stolen 16610 with State Farm about twelve years ago. The way the watch was stolen was very mysterious, I have my suspicions but could never prove them. In the end they sent me a replacement 16610 which was what I opted for. They would have sent a check if I wanted that instead. My rates did NOT go up and I was NOT dropped.
If you want any more details, PM me, but it sounds like yours is a cut & dryed case where mine was somewhat dubious and remains so to this day. |

I would bring a powerful flashlight and go when it starts to get dark. I assume the metal would shine brightly off the ground. Good luck.

...remember he has diamonds on the watch too so even more reason to use this strategy.

Good to hear that the insurance is working out as it's supposed to. Good luck when you go back out there.

Have you considered hiring an expert tracker with a tracking dog? Because it was lost in an area where where the scent is less likely to be contaminated you might have a shot, but too much time may have already passed and with it heating up and being windy in Texas this time of year it may be a total no go. No clue. Just a thought.
Edit: Read some information.... there is no way this will work...it's been way too long. Like I said, I had no clue...just felt your anguish and wanted to offer a potential solution. |
