Give a few of the more seasoned collectors a chance to comment, but I think it looks great (I do not know the MK variations well). If you polish the crystal it will look a lot better and I LOVE the faded insert!

The dial is a Mark I, which is considered the first variation of the white-lettered dials. The bracelet and insert appear correct for the watch. There should be a date or Alpha code on the bracelet clasp. "A" would be 76, VB-1977, VC-1978, VD-1979.

For the purist, price is driven by condition and the watch's original components. You'll need to spend some time researching sales to determine if you are comfortable at that price range.

Springer hit the nail on the head, as usual!

Seems very original other than the crown from what I can see. Bracelet may be a later 9315 which would need to be checked by the code Springer mentioned. If original, please send to Mike Young for restoration because it appears to be in good shape but needs TLC.

First few of the serial would help a lot too.

Dial is a Mk I white. Somewhat rare from my experience finding one recently...

There seems to be some corrosion around the cristal. other than that, given that the scratches are on the plexi, the watch looks good. However, I think 7k is a bit too much. I think this is a 6k watch

Not sure that's corrosion. Could just be that brown dirt that accumulates there and is fairly common. Easy to remove. I'd say this looks like an honest 1680 with a nice dial and bezel insert at a fair price. (The days of the nice white 1680s at $6K are gone, IMHO). Check the service history, because that ain't cheap, of course, if you need to deal with that. Not sure if it's just a reflection or scratches on the plexi, but check if the tritium is in tact on all the hour markers. Looks as if some might be missing.


Case has definitely been polished some, which is no big deal as long as it's done well. (An unpolished 1680 would be a lot more than $7K.) Check the lugs on the crown side of the case. They could be a little thinner than the other side, but tough to tell in the photos. The pin seems to be sticking out a little on the lower right lug, but that could be the pin size and doesn't always mean the lug is too thin. Good luck!

Done well is subjective...those spring bar holes are flared REALLY bad.

My pet peeve. Polish all you want but don't flare the springbar holes...

Head only I would agree.

If that is the original bracelet, it easily adds to the value. Just being a 9315 adds a grand based on the recent sales prices. Correct date 9315 is a premium. End links are correct so quite possibly all-original.

Insert and crystal look original, which means to me it is an honest example. Possibly polished but so what? If all parts check out, and you can get it for anything under seven grand you are doing well in my opinion.

Gunk around crystal is normal. I though I had some corrosion on my 9411 and a bit of alcohol and time and it turned out to be a pristine, corrosion-free case. If there is no crevice corrosion on the back of the case, chances are it's really nice, if not perfect.

maybe $800 for service (if needed) and a few hundred to have the bracelet restored. Crown is optional but I'd certainly be changing it to the correct 702.
