Serial numbers are guidelines but may have some variation to them. Do you happen to have a picture of the dial for us to have a look at?

The serial number guides are put together by collectors long ago and have perpetuated despite evidence otherwise. If you go to the vintage dial project attached to this site they referenced a 2.36 ff mark 4. I have seen a 2.4 ff mark 4 tropical brown dial on the site of a well known collextor back east. When i see these questions i ask what is probable vs. what is possible. In this case it is clearly possible and very likely probable. I have seen a couple of 2.38 ff mk4 on this site as well. I would not worry about a 2.41 ff mk4.

Those are both very nice timepieces. I hope to start my vintage collection with a Red Submariner. Would I be expected to pay ~15-20K USD for this quality of vintage Red Submariner?

A run of the mil 1680 is 10k. Fat case....orig hands and insert is in the low teens. Full set with papers and goodies is upper teens. The more original....insert, hands, fat case....the closer you get to 20. If mf, then add 2 to 3 k to all above.
