i bought a BLNR which was a year old to 'try out' because i was not sure i would like it and i wouldn't lose too much if i sold it.

fast forward to 6 months later and i love it even more than my sub. i do entertain the occasional thought of selling it and getting a BNIB piece LOL

Lol. That is a familiar phrase. "If you are not with the one you love, love the one you are with". Did I get the right phrase?

I would if I could do it for my 16710. Only preowned one I have. Probably would buy a coke BNIB to complement my Pepsi. Interesting thought. LOL. Good luck with that.

That sounds like something Ted Bundy might say

No I haven't, that would be ludicrous. However I'm planning on doing it myself next year

I could see a situation to justify this - special occasions, planning on keeping the new one forever, passing it down, a symbol of sorts, etc...then YES. Otherwise not worth the expensive of $ and time!

Put tape all over your watch and peel it off. Same action, close to same satisfaction, immeasurably less expensive.
