I have a sandwich 112, sausage 001 firenze, and the tudor BBN. They all bring something unique to the table - even between the Panerai's they show very differently. I think it really comes down to what personality you're looking for in your watch. If it were me, and I already had the BLNR, then I'd almost certainly go for the 510 because it is so much different from the BNLR that you're going to get the best of both worlds. What you're getting with the Panerai is that unique PAM look, an incredible dial, the ability to change the entire look of the watch with a strap change, more casual wear (but you can also dress it up), and the longer power reserve. My BBN sits on a winder when I rotate watches because that ETA it has certainly doesn't last too long. If you switch watches often, maybe consider the power reserve as a factor.
On the other hand, if you're a huge fan of metal bracelets, the Tudor BBN might be the way to go. The matte dial and matte bezel of the black along with the domed sapphire really give this watch a ton of personality. I didn't think I'd like the gold print much, but ended up loving it and wouldn't trade that red triangle at 12 for anything. Such a nice touch. I was actually looking at the Black Bay Blue when I found the BBN ETA and just couldn't stop staring at it, so out of the store it came. Also, last bit. How much did you like or dislike manually winding your previous 510? I actually look forward to winding the Pams, it's kind of like a morning routine getting ready for the day. To me that gives off a much different feeling than picking up my BBN off the winder or swirling it around and setting the date (plus the PAM CG mechanism is great to open and close). I love my Tudor BBN, I love my Pams, you should really get both because the Tudor is such a good value, but if you could only get one and already have the BNLR I think a base Panerai would be the best next step. |
