I agree with this and just because people don't comment doesn't mean they don't notice.

Of course, the public's perception of what a Rolex is is often distorted, so they may not recognize every model, but get close enough and some people will look.

That's why several people called my Explorer a counterfeit and they weren't a bunch of yahoos.

Humans size one another up all the time for all kinds of reasons.

It's our nature.

In certain professions, like my old one, banking, you are judged by the things you have and there is often a hierarchy, so best to do your research first.

after the job has been landed...some potential customers/clients prefer not to deal with individuals wearing Rolexes (i.e. lawyers, real estate agents etc.) as they are sometimes perceived as self-serving opportunists.

wearing a Rolex for work can sometimes come back & 'bite you in the ass' as it doesn't necessarily make one look 'hungry' for success...instead, it often makes a person appear as though they've 'already arrived' (even if they haven't).

good point...add dentist to the list as well. for some reason, they always seem to notice things like wristwatches & their prices are already high enough as it is.

if you happen to be wearing a more expensive watch than the one they have on...you're screwed.

I've had cashiers shake their tip jars at me on several occasions after seeing my watch. I've even had various professional service estimates given to me over the telephone actually double in price after I've met the company representative face to face and they see my watch in person. And home repair estimates, fuggedaboutit!
