Basel New Grand Seiko.

Seiko have introduced a new Grand Seiko automatic with a 72 hour power reserve 39mm case. Both now have the new Diaflex main spring 72 hours power reserve, with new 41 Jewelled movement. The New SBGL001 S.steel white/black dial is
expected to cost around $5000,expensive maybe but this is a very high
quality product.

That's an incredible movement, now, if they could just jazz up the looks a bit

Would seriously doubt it Craig, the grand has not changed a lot since the late 70s. The movement vintage or new, is as good as any of the swiss, perhaps better than some.

Thanks for the update Padi. Not only is the movement superior to some, I think it's a great looking watch. The power reserve indicator doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.

But now for the $64,000 question: this one or a similar priced Rolex?

Well speaking for myself I would take the Seiko, its not important to me whats written on the dial.Sure Rolex has the more prestigious name, but the Seiko Grand IMO is a much more exclusive watch.

Rolex! but it might be because I'm vain and if I spend 5,000$ i want to get some recognition out of it, no layman's going to associate Seiko with big bucks

Good question, Fransie. It all boils down to whether you want to be happy with what you have on your wrist, or you just want other to know what it is. This would be the part where Daren's signature would come into play

When does your signature come into play, tosser?

That's probably one of the reasons you've made Numero Uno on the new List, tosser!

Now that Craig I would 100% agree with you,its a great shame that life today. Is all about what name brand, not only watches, but down to the clothing you wear.
