Scotch Brite polishing method on ss submariner bracelet
Hello,
So unfortunately i banged my bracelet buckle while closing a door which thus gave it a somewhat noticeable scratch. I'm interested in the DIY scotch brite method as I dont want the whole bracelet polished. I just want that scratch gone. Now my question is, can i just run the scotch brite pad on that right side where the scratch is? Or do i need to do the whole buckle so it will look uniform? Please see pic. Thanks. |

if you buff that out you will get another. the clasp takes the biggest beating. that said just search for the thread because there is one here.

You may find that the scotch brite pad depending on the grit of it may look a little different in grain pattern after you are done, so you would probably want to tape off the part that is undamaged, work on that area to remove the scratch and then go over the entire clasp lightly a few times always in one direction to put back the uniform pattern on the entire clasp. Or like Etschell said, wear it and don't worry about it and they will fix it at your next service when it has a bunch more scratches on it also - just depends if it will bother your or not - once you probably fix it and it happens again, you will learn to just live with them.

try the red one ,,, tape off everything you dont want touched and rub in straight lines , if it looks odd , do the other side as well ,, dont get too anal about it , it will pick up lots more along its lifes journey.
