Very similar experience for me in my watch collecting life.
And ended up with a SubC last year. Once you own one it really does change your perception of the brand.

I had something like 8 watches at one point. Then I bought an Applewatch and stopped wearing anything else for a year. I sold all of them minus 3 (one Ball that I just love the tritium tubes, one Magrette Bronze/brass that is worth nothing and a LumTec that I severly damaged while learning that aftermarket straps and protective tube don't work together). So basically only the Ball is worth anything. I now have a one watch does it all and it feels good. If I buy anything else one day it's another Rolex. I should have done that to begin with, but I guess I needed to learn first. Rolex is like the Porsche 911. Those who know nothing about cars buy one just because it's a 911 and they know enough to know that it is a good car. But car fanatics that know their stuff will buy one because it is a great car. And the Rolex, just like the 911, can be had in a wide variety of models/options. |
