Please let us know if anyone on here buys it. Would love to see the end result.
I see Georgia tried really hard to follow our protocol to take a massive maount of pics so as to disclose everything. That was really an awesome find. A watchmaker (30 year customer) sent us that and yes, quite rare and in need of a lot of restoration! Good luck! Jeff |

it's abundantly obvious
come on guys it's abundantly obvious by the multitude of extreme close-up pics in the ebay listing that the watch is a resto project so i don't really understand all this fuss? it is indeed a rare model and the buyer is going to give it a simple tear down that one would expect to service the thing and at the same time those case lugs could certainly be laser welded, reshaped and drilled by any number of pros on 47th st in the jewelry district of manhattan and be looking great in less than 24 hours.
i'm very surprised that people here would consider that a goner or "donor" watch. doesn't anyone undertake restoration projects here? this is the vintage section after all. and before anyone starts to whine...that case lug problem could be straightened out by a pro on 47th st for just a few hundred bucks and that watch would be every bit as desirable as any other vintage example that underwent a case re-finish or polish. last year we had an old gilt dialed 1016 explorer with a broken and missing lug and the thing was lasered and fixed for $200. it's no big deal and a standard procedure that any restoration enthusiast should be familiar with. these oldies can easily be saved and enjoyed and it would be a sin to bust that watch up as a parts donor! |
