My Datejust is in for an overhaul and it was recommended that the bracelet be replaced. Could I have my jubilee bracelet replaced with an oyster bracelet? The jeweler who sent my watch to the RSC in Dallas says no, they will only replace with the same bracelet. That jeweler is also trying to sell me a new Rolex because I would really like to have the oyster bracelet. Thanks for your help with this.

I don't know how it works in the 'States, but you are the customer, it's your money, and you should be able to buy what you want. If you want to go for what Rolex would regard as a 'non-standard' combination of watch/bracelet you might end up spending a bit more, but you can do it.

So, for example, there's nothing to stop you simply buying an Oyster bracelet for your watch and getting your local dealer to fit it for you. That's what I did with my GMT in 1969 - I wanted a Jubilee bracelet instead of the Oyster so my local dealer ordered a Jubilee for me (which I paid for) and fitted it. Of course, I ended up with two bracelets and I've still got the original Oyster in the box.

hey seawench, a friend of mine had his jubilee bracelet replaced with an oyster bracelet on his datejust not long ago. not sure of all the details, but it's definitely possible.

dj is available on both, so RSC will supply whichever the client requests: dealers are often wrong.

What's the problem with your bracelet? If the clasp is loose, it's super simple to fix. There are some YouTube videos on this topic.

Not sure about Rolex's policies on changing the bracelet, but you can always find Oyster bracelets in the For Sale section... if one is not available now, just keep checking back or put a wanting to buy post and you will definitely find one eventually... are you looking for SS or 2T?

Well obviously... Every Rolex watchmaker can fix a clasp.
It's most likely worn out pins and links which makes it stretch like a rubber band. RSC usually don't repair but immediately charge a new bracelet.
