Sore losers

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016...r-team-gbs-tr/

Not cool

If the GB cycling team were that stupid, I'm sure they'd have been caught and hung out to dry by now. What happened to good sportsmanship and losing with dignity? Some people should recognise that they're not as good as they think they are.

And here I thought this thread was going to be about Hope Solo. Seems like this Olympics is filled with sore losers.

Dignity, as well as courtesy and propriety, seem to be in shorter and shorter supply all the time (and not just in sports)

How about the (white) silver medalist pole vaulter from France comparing himself to Jesse Owens in 1936 Nazi Germany due to some boos directed his way by the partisan Brazilian home crowd supporting their gold medal winner? Talk about a sore loser.

Actually I am really not impressed by these Olympic Games . . .

For whatever reason the mentality has changed a lot

But probably it was the same before

Couldn't agree more. The new Olympic credo should include: faster, higher, stronger, smarter.

Seems to me that our next generation hasn't been taught what "class" is. I thought it was just here in the States. Seems like the entire globe is turning to the individual. Perhaps these new athletes should no longer be associated with a country since it seems to be all about themselves.

It's not about being a good loser it's about losing with dignity. Getting hammered is no excuse to left-handedly and publicly insinuate that the British cycling team are winning thanks to illegal pharmaceutical assistance. The non-medal winning male swimmers are not complaining that Michael Phelps is on the gear so why do the losing cyclists have a pop at the British boys and girls? They are better than the opposition and if the losers don't like it, then train harder or go home. It's plain wrong on every level to make false accusations to excuse their failures.

The French vaulter did apologise for that comparison almost immediately. It was said when he was very upset in heat of the moment.

The booing by the crowd while he was trying to compete and during the medal ceremony was absolutely disgusting and unforgiveable. Brazil showing it's true colours as still a third world country.

I would say the Brazilian fans should be banned from attending more events but it's not like anyone is turning up to most of the events anyway.

Unfortunately, cyclists have been hit with those accusations for many years. It's really odd how people will condemn them, but say nothing about football, baseball, bodybuilders, etc.

It's very odd. No one says it about Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt, etc. but the cyclists are getting fingers pointed in all directions. Did this happen before Lance Armstromg got his collar felt?

Bodybuilders (IFBB Pros, not Olympic lifters) are all on the gear though. It's accepted and within the rules; I don't condone or condemn but at least it's a level playing field

Last time I watched the olympics was the Barcelona olympics. That's how much I care about this circus.

I'm glad I've tuned out of most of it. Seemed like a good Olympics to skip with all of the Brazilian government corruption and health/safety issues for the athletes.
