116520 stock? (non ceramic daytona)
Hi all,
I read on a forum elsewhere that some AD's still have stock of the non ceramic daytonas, which are less in demand due to the hype around the ceramic ones. Has anyone seen any in the UK? My local AD advised they have some and would check with their boss if they could sell me one. They've come back to advise me they're already allocated, it certainly didn't sound as if they were allocated when I had the discussion with the sales person so I imagine I don't pass the "important customer" test - a little frustrating as I have purchased 4 watches from them in 24 months, but I guess compared to their "big spenders" this doesn't put me too high up the list! If anyone is aware of any other AD's that might have stock I would be interested in following up, ideally North West based..... Many thanks! |

Highly doubtful many 116520 are left at AD. I'm sure there might be a couple. But I doubt there are any in the UK....a place where it was notoriously difficult to get a Daytona through its entire production run. 99 percent of people don't care about new Daytona or don't know about it and would still by a 116520 if they had opportunity and were looking.

I've been offered one for a few weeks now here in Atlanta (sorry, I know it doesn't help OP in the UK, but answers the title question). Was told that this AD picked up a few at the beginning of the year with new +2/-2 specs, in anticipation of the ongoing demand for the non ceramic SS models. They said they are very hard to come by at ADs right now, but have offered me one at a modest discount because they have been delayed in acquiring another watch for me.
I like these guys, but I am not 100% sure how much they are telling me is just pure salesmanship. Is a $500 discount on a new 116520 a great deal? Am I lucky to be offered one at all (have only bought one watch from them before). Here is a quick side-by-side the other day. No, I wasn't offered the white 500, and wan't allowed to hold it, as it was allocated to a VIP. |

SS Daytonas are available, but they're hard to come by and here in Asia they're going for above retail. I saw one at the airport Rolex boutique at Kuala Lumpur earlier this month and it was US$14k, duty free. OP, depending how badly you want one brand new, then you're gonna have to do some leg work, be prepared to travel and probably pay a premium. Good luck

i prefer the 116520 and I'm sure that still have in stock for your best customers or for those who want to pay more than the price list. in Europe the last daytona 2016 also asking 15k and I think that in two years will be 20 k .

I would think 4 watches in 2 years would get you into a conversation at an AD.

If they are less in demand, why would they have to check to see if they could sell you one?

Do you absolutely need it to be from an AD? There are quite a few on the sale forums, not sure if any are in Europe so you can avoid / reduce VAT

I saw both a white and black dial SS 116520 at an AD in Texas a few weeks ago. Probably not very common, but can still be obtained with some persistence.

They are definitely not easy to come by.....I grabbed one of mine new from AD for msrp back in May/June and am glad I did. I frequent the ADs around me and I haven't seen it available for some time.....they're not producing them no more and they weren't abundant to begin with....so while I'm sure some ADs might still have a couple stragglers....they aren't easy to come by new. If you want it....any discount I'd consider a good deal IMO....very different character than the 116500 and I'm positive the respect they deserve will come back as soon as the hype dies with the new ceramic watches.

I picked up one recently from a trusted seller here and I'd advise you to do the same as my guess--and it is a total guess--is that supply is going to go down not up. I wouldn't expect to be finding any brand new ones from ADs now but you never know. Maybe an AD in some backwater still has stock. I wouldn't count on it though. |

I've been to all the big Rolex dealers in the Philadelphia area, and none of them have the 116520, nor 116500. They're not hard to find, thanks to the magic of the Internet, but finding one local to you may prove difficult.

Thanks for the comments all! Available grey market here but at more than £2k over list hence the AD requirement if at all possible. Will keep scouting around, some of the replies have given me a glimmer of hope :) thanks all!

My AD may have one. They usually keep them in the safe and not in the display case. If anyone in the US is interested, I can ask.
