Platinum Rolex daytona 116506

Hi,

My first post here. An amazing site it is too.

I bought a GMT II stainless/gold a couple of years back which is beautiful but have always liked the Daytona.

The opportunity arose to buy one and i've just paid for a platinum 116506 that's due to arrive at my local jewellers in the UK this month. Am very excited but slightly worried how the platinum might look after a year or two even with careful wearing by a clumsy clown like me.

Any tips or hints about care and maintenance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Greg

On the hardness scale, platinum is harder than gold but softer than steel. Thus, I expect a daily platinum beater to be a better alternative for gold. It may develop more of a patina (wear) than a steel beater under the same conditions.

Also, it would be interesting to find out what Rolex does with platinum. Rolesor (essentially a gold alloy) is quite remarkable.
