Acupuncture, have you tried it?

Just curious on who here has tried acupuncture.

I had my first treatment about 3 years ago for knee issues. Worked great. Took about 4 treatments. I've also had treatment for a right shoulder pain.

Did the shoulder treatment work? I'm thinking of trying as I've got a "frozen shoulder".

That's what my acupuncturist called my shoulder problem too.

My treatment was about 2 weeks ago. If I reached behind my passenger car seat, I would get a severe pain. My shoulder is much better now. I may seek a second treatment.

Don't reach behind your passenger car seat. That will be $100 please.

My aunt has had it done before, she said it works wonders. Expensive too I guess (I don't know, I've personally never had it done before). Sounds kinda not something I'd go with (the whole sticking needles in your body thing, but if it helps, all the more reason to give it a shot :)

I tried acupuncture, as did the wife, as a fertility treatment. We got pregnant eventually, and I can't say as to how much of an affect the acupuncture had on it. However, I do find it to be a very meditative thing to do, and it always left me feeling better.

And, I'll say this... you may not be into this whole "reading your chi" stuff, but BS or no BS, the lady did her first reading on me and immediately predicted several dietary/behavioral habits I had that could be affecting my health, and pretty adequately predicted the symptoms I should be having.

It was all in all weird but interesting and a very cool experience. I guess I had 1/2-dozen 45 min. sessions in all.

I did, many times, for my chronic headaches, and unfortunately I wasn't helped by it. I had the regular acupuncture, together with the electro-acupuncture, and PT focused on the pressure points; all for 10 sessions each to get the best result, but it did't work.

I did hear lots of succes stories, so if somebody's thinking about trying it, I would be the last one to discourage them!

I think I've found the best deal in Atlanta. My acupuncturist is also my chiropractor. $40 per session, add $10 if you need acupuncture. He is American, but of Chinese descent.

I'm in Atlanta and have been looking for an acupuncturist. There are quite a few on Buford Hwy but haven't found one that I'm confident in. Would you mind sharing the name of yours?

Thanks.

Credit Cards are accepted. I think the fees are a little bit higher if you process payment through an insurance company. But $50 is so reasonable, I just pay it out of pocket.

Tell him Barry, the Cowboy Action Shooter, sent you!

Good point, but my Glock 17 is in the back map pocket of the passenger side seat (all legal in Georgia, BTW) and I have a habit of touching it and my laptop case before I leave from a parking space.

So there's a lot of reaching behind the seat through out the day.

It's kind of what works for you. I had a sporadic pain in my arm a few years ago. My doctor said that it was most likely subcutaneous blood, and that there were no muscles where I said there was pain. He suggested that I just live with it for a while and it would probably go away by itself. It did.

Whether or not you seek treatment for something certainly does depend on your need for making the particular movement that causes the pain. If the movement is not necessary, then just don't make that movement for a while. If you are in a situation where you need to make that movement, then I guess you try different things. It's often difficult to assess whether the treatment cured the problem, or whether the passage of time cured the problem. In any event, good luck.

I think acupuncture is good, but only the expert (doctor) can do that.
