Winder cause 8 sec loss?

I've noticed my watch loses about 3 mins per month which seems extreme. Can a winder cause faster loss that wearing the watch daily since its always in the same position?

Probably depends on the winder but a winder isn't as effective as wearing it. My DJII loses a little on the winder, gains a little on the wrist.

I see. It's a Wolf winder if that makes a difference or if anyone's had the same thing happen.

Watches tend to run faster or slower than usual on a winder than on the wrist or just set down in my experience.

A winder cannot "cause" anything. All they do is rotate the watch.

Typically, a worn watch will run faster since there is some lateral load that shortens the rotation of the balance, a force that is not there on a winder.

Wind your watch fully before putting it on a winder for consistent performance. "Winder" is a misnomer and their use is to keep your watch at a static point in time as opposed to actually winding it.

I have noticed the same thing with the Wolf. On the winder the watch remains in the same orientation, in this case one that seems to cause the watch to run consistently slow.

Off the winder it seems to keep better time, and then can be left face up or face down at night if needed to add back a few seconds that might be lost during the day.

Just the opposite for me and have posted about some recent great results on a Daytona that loses no more than a couple of seconds per month on my Wolf Winder. I have a couple of twin cuff winders and the other watches have variable results- so I doubt the winder has caused anything regarding accuracy.

I have a cheap winder that cost $90. on Ebay several years ago.
I have not noticed any difference in gain/loss regardless of whether the watches are on the winder or my wrist. (I check accuracy daily and have several years of records)

I have two totally free winders called wrists and what the watch was designed for, and not sat on some machine.Although I now only check time once a month or so even then my wearing watch is seldom more than a minute fast but I dont check to the exact second.
