no one is going to see the back of the watch so who cares? do you not plan on owning it long? in my opinion I would use this as a negotiating tool and tell them you are thinking about getting it as a gift for someone and you want to engrave the back, so they either need to replace it with a new back themselves or give you a big enough discount to buy a new back case for it...
and then I would just keep it on there and IF you sell it in the future expect to give the next guy a little bit of a discount, but its not like it devalues the watch that much, at the end of the day its a ROLEX and like I said no one is going to see it while its on your wrist so who cares? |
