Black Bay 36... thoughts/opinions from current owners?
I stumbled upon this photo from Grady's thread and while this watch had never crossed my radar, I immediately thought wow what a watch. While I'd never wear it as I prefer larger watches, I thought that I might get it for my father this Christmas. He won't wear something if he thinks it's expensive so any Rolex branded piece is out of the question; he might have heard of Tudor, but wouldn't have a clue how much it costs. I plan to tell him it cost a couple hundred just so he'll wear it as a daily. Of course I'll insure it at my end. He's never been what society would consider wealthy, perhaps middle class at best, but he's a hardworking chap the most honest man I know who's put in many a long night to ensure our family always had food on the table.
My only concern is that it might wear a little too small being a 36mm... I read some reviews tonight but wanted input from actual owners who have had it for a while. Do you find it wears too small after a while? Or any other suggestions as to something similar to get? Happy Christmas shopping to everyone in advance.

I tried this piece on recently at an AD. Oh man is it gorgeous!
That day I also tried a 36mm Explorer. I must say the Black Bay stuck to me more. I feel like the large lume markings help with the overall smallness of the case, and that it wears really nice. I wear a GMT C II as my daily driver, and while the Black Bay wore much smaller, it still fitted well on my wrist and didn't feel awkward. Unfortunately, I have no pics. Keep in mind I tried it on leather, as the bracelet version didn't really speak to me.

Currently, I'm 6'2" and 194. Six months ago I was 257 and at either weight the 36mm watches look fine, but I guess it's what your father is accustomed to.
I'm wearing a 34mm Tissot now and have been for several days. It's thin and light and a nice change from the heavier, larger watches. The thing about the BB36 is that while it is beautiful, it is also quite unassuming. I don't know your father's tastes, but if he's as you describe, I think he'll like it. I think he'll figure out what he's got eventually though. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

Thanks for your thoughts! I was pleasantly surprised at the bracelet as it closely resembled the Rolex sports models, compared to the Ranger which has a gap where the lugs are. The bracelet on this one looks like a perfectly engineered fit. Quote:
I have a feeling he'll grow into it, especially if it's a gift. I want something unassuming, something he'll wear all the time without fear of scratching it up or putting a ding in. As to figuring out what he's got... I reckon it'll be quite a while. Thanks both for your input.
