DJII weak power reserve

hey everyone...I did a quick search to see if anything like this has come up and didn't find anything, so I figured I'd ask the experts here! this will probably come off as a bit of a N00B question (and that's accurate, cause I'm still a bit of a noob). :-)

I wear my DJII pretty much all the time, but I took it off yesterday to work in the yard around noon, and by about 2:30 it had stopped. So, I broke out the manual this am and did a manual wind on it to get it going.

First question: when you do the manual wind, you can feel the clicking of the winding mechanism, right? how much resistance should you feel? I gave it like 10-15 turns...is there a max (the manual recommended 20).

Second, when I pushed the crown back in, the second hand didn't start right away. Once I started moving it went, but I was concerned that it didn't start after winding. anyone else ever seen this happen, or is that normal?

thanks everyone!

Sound like a visit to a service center is in order. No issues with mine but that doesn't mean it can't happen.

First off, welcome to the madness...I mean forum.

As far as winding, I will usually do about 40 turns or so. Interesting that the manual says 20, most of the posts I read on here indicate a higher number.

Not sure what to make of your second question. I think I would just keep an eye on that and see if it persists. If it does, and/or you do don't feel like your power reserve is operating as it should, then you might want to have it checked out.

Your watch needs 40 full crown turns clockwise only to fully wind your watch dont worry you cannot over-wind.And although its a automatic movement it still relies on reasonable wrist movement to wind it to keep it going. And in most all the 3 series movements power reserve is around 48 hours after a full manual wind while off the wrist. And its quite normal that occasionally even after a manual wind the movement could need a slight swirl to get it started its mechanical.

This.

No need to visit the service centre.

You can't overwind the movement so wind as much as you like (or just the 40 necessary)

Clutches exist for just that reason!

12 hours power reserve?

So, just bought my first DJII, about a month ago.
The first few days, I noticed watch had stopped after about 15 hours off my wrist.
Didn't know anything about perpetual motion, read up, and gave my watch it's first full wind.
Now yesterday, my watch stopped after about 12 hours.
Just to add, I was wearing the watch for 10 hours that day, and 8 hours the day before. I am at a computer for probably 75% of the day, and the remaining 25% is still somewhat sedentary.
Did I get a lemon? Service? Normal?
I think I'll try the full wind and keep off my wrist to see how long till it stops.
HOw long should it take for the watch to stop?
Thanks!

you don't move enough. some manual winding will be in order to achieve full reserve.

it takes appr. 40 turns to fully wind my DJII. Once I checked what is power reserve - it is 48.5 hours (according to specs).

If I wear my watch at least 8 hours a day and work almost all time with PC, watch runs perfectly and I do not need to wind it manually.

It's not how much time you wear it for, it's how much activity it gets during that time. Sounds as if you just don't provide enough of the necessary wrist-rotation necessary to turn the autowind mechanism.

Wind it up once a week and you should be fine.

Thanks everyone for the all the input.
So my new rolex has been ticking away now for almost 30 hours without wearing it, after a full windup.
Feeling much better now!
