I would do the DSSD Blue. I have owned the DSSD with the black face. The watch is a tank and the Glidelock system is almost worth the price of admission. I owned the Panerai 194 which is a similar 47 mm dive watch from Panerai as the 305. It is too big in my opinion and I am a large person. The resale on the Panerai is soft at best, if not dismal. I would get the DSSD first and down the road if you are still interested in a 47 mm diver add it to the collection. But buy pre-owned and do yourself a favor.

I owned the 305 for quite a while and loved wearing it. It still remains one of my favorite PAMs but that was before the intro of the D-Blue. Not even close in my opinion - D-Blue all the way!!

I have a Deepsea and PAM389 (which looks similar to the 305, but with ceramic bezel).

I like both, but they're very different watches.

What other Rolex models do you own (to gauge how similar the DSSD is to what you already have)?

It really boils down to what you're looking for in the next watch.

I own a D-Blue and a PAM243 1000m submersible so I love the Panerai submersibles. The 305 is nice but I'd go D-Blue.

Decision made.
I like the Panerai Subs but I'm going with the D-blue.
The more & more I'm looking at it, the less and less I'm looking at the Panerais.

Thanks for all the input.

You have a couple Rolex. Time for a change. The 305 is a great submersible.... if you like the sub line, also consider the 389 for a ceramic bezel or 24 for a smaller form (though I think the 305 is the best of that bunch).

243 also is a classic.

Also, the new SE 719 could be worth a look, if you can find one.

DSSDDB because the PAM looks cartoonish to me.

Me niether. Italian navy? Seems like a less than illustrious selling point. Deepsea an easy choice.

DSDB 100%. Hold value. Perfectly balanced.
Panerai 90% of the models will depreciate like these no tomorrow.

I know what I'm talking about.

I love the looks of the Panerai watches......on other people's wrists. It's a neat look, but I'm hooked on the Rolex brand after trying others. The AD I've dealt with for many years advised the resale value on Panera isn't very good. So, if you buy one, plan to keep it or lose some serious money.
