Need help on choosing for new watch (second hand)
Not really sure if the title is entirely correct.
Anyways, I visited few second hand stores and I found some the models I was looking for (Rolex sub 16610, explorer 2 red and orange hand, explorer 1). I really wants a sub no date or maybe date, but the condition isn't ideal imo. I wonder if you can guide me on what I should do now. $4300 (box only) year is unknown, a lot of scratches on the watch, and the bracelet feels really loose and flimsy. Around $4600 (box only), year is unknown, lesser scratches compare to the first, but have long scratch on the bezel. Bracelet feels much better than the first one. Description says it all Orange hand excellent condition, $5250 (box&maybe paper), just normal hair scratches on the lug and few dents (can't remember) Red hand good condition, $3950 (box). Also, I found 2 sub no date 2 liner for $4300 (Watch only), and other one for $4500 ( watch only) maybe 14060M. So I'm stuck with all these options... Don't really know what to choose. I really like sub no date>date>explorer 2=1. Pleas give me some advice. Much thanks PS: I believe I can lower he price even further Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have a 14060m and 214270, and I wear the Explorer more than any watch in my collection, by far. It's versatile, durable and understated, moreso than any you are considering. As for the EXII, never appealed to me, rather limiting for my tastes.
At the very least, you'll have fun deciding and they're all fine pieces.

Um. Very interesting, but I wonder if ex1 can handle water like shower, swimming (occasionally) in pool or sea? Also, how the price for this ex1? What's the best price imo to get an ex1? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Look, there's no way we can decide for you, given those options. All are different watches with different features and only you can decide which you like best. For example, how important is having a date? As for swimming or showering with an Explorer I, its water resistance is the same as that of the Explorer II. Regarding the two Sub Dates, why is the year unknown? I would never purchase a Rolex without knowing its serial number, which, for the 16610, will give you a close approximation of the year it was produced. It sounds like you have a good bit of due diligence yet to do.

You should be cautious in second hand stores in the GCC. There is quite a high percentage of fakes in these shops. I was in the Abu Dhabi gold souk last week and about a quarter of the watches on display were fakes.

I kind of explained the wrong way, but I mean to ask to guide me like the condition to the value of watch, or filter the watch out of the list. Date isn't that important to mean, so I really don't care (sometimes I use phone to check date). So, I assume ex1 can be used in condition for my needs? As for the date sub, the dealers in my country is more or less reseller without knowing much about watches (not all), they mostly check he card for year of production. After thinking back the sub date condition really isn't ideal. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
