No effect on the top makers. This will provide them and their customers better protection.
Currently there are watches produced with all parts made in china, let a swiss person work on it and the swiss value (wages etc) will be just as much or surpass the chinese value. One of the reasons top manufacturers look for different ways to differentiate themselves by using options like the geneva seal. I take pride in owning a watch where I can say with certainty where it was made, not where it accumulated most of its value. |
