As long as you have the know-how, appropriate tools, and patience to do it correctly, there is nothing to worry about. Same goes for bracelet R&R.
However, if you can't do either without leaving "evidence" (scratches) behind, it may be something to leave to your local watchmaker, especially if done so infrequently. YMMV...
