Really sorry your wife dictates how many watches you can bring.

Comex is too precious, I wouldn't take Daytona near water, so I would go Exp2.

Don't have a Platona? Not sure they will let you in with either of those.
Just kidding! St Barths is so filled with wonderful watches. I would go with the Comex, that is an awesome watch!

I would have a tough time wearing the Comex. If the value wasn't as high as it is then I would wear it. So given it is I would wear the polar.

Going to favor the comex here. Most versatile in that line up.

Comex SD. Sweet watch!
Edit: On second thought, considering the value of the Comex, I'd leave that one behind and wear the Exp II. |

I'd bring the COMEX. It'll be in it's environment. Sure it would be difficult to replace should something happen to it but what's the point of owning it if you can't enjoy it in a place like St. Barts? Besides, what could go wrong? :)

Polar. COMEX is not easily replaced IF something were to happen to it.

Just for reference the Exp II is just as rare as the COMEX. Its the SAS edition if that shifts anyone's mind.

Forgive the ignorance, but why is the Comex special?

COMEX was a French diving company that was at the forefront of diving technology. In the 60's - 90's they issued watches to their divers so that they could be tested in real working conditions. So Rolex gave the company around 2k watches from the late 70's to the early 2k's. They were given in batches of 100 in both Subs and SD's. The watches came with the double stamp dials and were engraved with a COMEX number on the back. The serial number of the watch is also engraved on the inner case back.
The other watch in question is an SAS Exp II which was offered for sale to serving members of the 22 Special Air Service Rgt which is the grandfather of modern Special Forces units. It too has a special engraved casebook with the regimental insignia as well as the ZAP number of the soldier who purchased it. The case was also engraved with the regimental motto on the side of the case. It is far more controversial than the COMEX but is also super rare. I really like "issued" watches for the history so thats why i included them.... |

Thanks for letting me know the history. In the two months I've been on this forum I've learnt an awful about Rolex. That's down to some very knowledgable and patient members...
