Daytona 116520 prices - Further down?

For a long time I've contemplated the purchase of a Daytona. I actually prefer the look of the previous gen 116520 over the newer Ceramic models. I see right now preowned these are going for around 9000-10000.

Once the prices of NEW Ceramic Daytonas settle down closer to MSRP and some used ones hit the market, would it stand to reason that would drive prices of the 116520s down as well? Or due to the popularity of Daytonas would you say the 9000ish is pretty much a floor for those prices?

I can only see the 116520 going one way and that is up.

The 116500 will trade at a premium for a long time in meh opinion - as was the case for the 16520 and 116520 for most of the time they were being produced.

It seems like that prices have been rising. A good earlier 116520 is up to 10-11 and the water models with the spring clasp are now 11-12k. The 16520's are now in the mid teens and the earlier versions are in the stratosphere so I think we have seen the floor.

I don't know, but I would be inclined to agree with CJ that the floor has been met for the SS model. Look at the subs and especially GMT's for what's happened when the ceramics were introduced in their references.

The BNIB price of 116520 in Singapore is up as not much stock available in AD. It does also drive up the preowned price.

No. Prices on Daytonas have never gone down.

I am no expert but my hunch is we've hit the floor. I think there has been a bit of a glut with DayC upgrades but that's probably over. I mean there's still a steady supply but the market doesn't seem flooded.

I ended picking one up (2012 with some factory stickers still on it) because imho it's a classic and will hold value over time. If I had the option at a white face DayC I'd be torn but would probably get it and keep the 116520.

Imho it's beautiful, stylish and timeless. I just don't see the bottom falling out and they don't make them anymore. If you like it I'd get one now rather than later.

From what I've seen they have actually risen recently...time for me to pick up a nice 16520 while they're still reasonable.

I bought all 3 generations over the last two months and what I'm noticing over the last two weeks:

16520 was rare when I started looking some 1.5 months ago and is now barely seen in shop windows except some special but super expensive models (saw a black face inverted-6 patrizzi and negotiated down to 16.5k but right before I pulled the trigger I found that one of the small hands for one of the chrono dials was seriously damaged under the loupe - that was lucky ).

116520 can still be found here and there including NOS (that come with substantial markups). White dial C is still like a legend I've only seen it twice in window display since I started to frequent watch shops from 2 months ago after bitten by the Rolex bugs.

P.s. I live in hongkong so it's easy for me to visit 6 or 7 stores in a weekend.

16520 prices are all over the place. From $10K for a beater to $30K for NOS
