LV is less common and you can easily flip with a LN down the road. It sounds like your heart is set for it also.

It's not uncommon to end up with both. Many of the members on here have.
The first Rolex I ever purchased was the LNC and shortly after ended up with the LVC. |

I was thinking about doing this (adding a LV to my LN) but do you think it's crazy to pay $8,500 for a green dial and bezel if you already have a black sub date? I only ask because I don't know if I can get around that idea, at the moment I am thinking of selling my LN and then picking up the LV instead. How is it having both?

Both are great watches it's just personal preference. some people think the LVC is not suited as a daily watch, I do not agree.

Honestly I quite enjoy having both pieces. To me there is enough versatility to warrant owning both. Something about that green just works well. And look at it this way. If you ever got bored of one you will more than likely recover all of the money you spent on the watch in secondary market. I bought the LVC a few years back for 7900 Canadian and if I wanted to sell it tomorrow I'm sure I would have no issues getting back what I paid or more. I say go for it syke! |

Why not consider a GMT2 BLNR. Not always the easiest to get (UK anyway), but worth the search :)
The blue becomes more black in poor lighting, but pops beautifully when you appreciate a touch of colour. I'd choose it every day over a LV or LN (in fact I've flipped both in the past) |

You really need to go with what you think's best...
Although to answer your question, if it were me I'd go for the black. It's a classic and will go with anything. |

If this is your main watch, I'd say black sub.
That green Sub is not as versatile as an only watch. But if you want some color go with BLNR or a coke/pepsi GMT. I think a GMT with a bit of color on the bezel sorts it out for you.

Wait until you're 100% all in but I sense that the LV is the one you want.
I've had no problem wearing it with any and every color combo. Don't overthink it. |

The Sub is my all time favorite Rolex and I do not think you can make a bad choice here only a different choice. I have owned them all and loved them all. I currently own a 116610-LV and think it is great. I wear it with everything and have no issues matching. With that said I would buy a 114060, ND Sub-C. This watch can be had from our TS for $6300-6500 new and $5700-6100 slightly preowned. With the money you can save look at a Omega Speedmaster, pre-owned or several of the Tudors. I like the Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue. What ever you buy can be flipped for not much of a loss if you buy right. Good luck and enjoy the process, for me it is half the fun.

I can't think of a Rolex that I wouldn't wear with anything, so on that basis, buy the LV. It seems to be the way you're leaning

Go with the LV. My very first Rolex was the 16610LV and my first ceramic Sub was the 116610LV. Both great watches I wore daily.

I know I may be in the minority when I say this but these days the LV DOES go with everything. Have no fear, if you like the green - do it!
