Yea, I'd also prefer the 39mm not have the colored lume, but when I saw it in person it didn't bother me as much as I thought it would.
Yeah, I think they're all nice. I'm just splitting hairs. I like the 36mm size a little better, and I like the stick dial better than the 3-6-9, but I think they're all the best in the current Rolex catalogue.

Definitely a great looking watch. I've never seen that double baton marker before it looks stunning

Well I certainly wouldn't turn down the OP's pictured OP if someone gave me one.

I think that would ruin it, for me at least. Less is more.

I have always preferred the baton markers to the Arabic 3-6-9...

I can understand the love for the Sub, Daytona, and GMT. They are great watches. But, I don't think another watch in the lineup pulls off the balance of sportiness and dressiness like the OP 36mm. It is rugged and elegant all at the same time. Plus, the history for the OP is very intriguing...it is the oldest continuing models of Rolex.

I know it doesn't get much chatter around the boards, but I am really digging this watch and hope to grab one soon.

The current steel dial OP (in your pic) was introduced in 2015 and is superb in the flesh (I've seen and handled the white grape but not the red grape versions), but if you do feel like looking at any of the original model variants (introduced in 2009/10) - these are the dial options you could choose from at the time (my pic 1)..... all nice dials in the flesh, although the diamonds are not my choice - might have been nice having the Romans with dot lume markers as well, (it's also fairly obvious what inspired that new AirKing dial).
I find it hard to believe someone can 'hate' (dislike maybe, but hate wow!) the 3-6-9 dial which is basically an Explorer dial with the ROLEX coronet replacing the inverted triangle at 12 0'clock with a nice sunburst finish and as (nearly) everyone can see there's a perfect balance and symmetry between the batons and numerals, very hard to dislike to my eyes.
In fact, if you look at my 2nd picture (from a german watch magazine back in 2009) allegedly the matte black proposed / prototype dial was changed to gloss black with pink markers by ROLEX, fearing it would hit sales of the just released 214270 which was getting a fair bit of criticism at that time (justified imho) and has only just been addressed with the latest Explorer.
The addition of a 'domed' bezel, actually accentuates the dials and seems to make the watch wear 'bigger' than the 14270 & 114270, both of which I have and are basically the same watch.

I'm a strong believer that less is more and I have been considering this watch a lot to pair it with my YM.

I think it's the perfect watch for everyday/under the radar use.

This or the Tudor Black Bay 36 will be my next purchase.

I say go for it!

I love my 36mm DateJust, but the even simpler OP has a tremendous appeal and, for me at least, 36mm is a great size.

Maybe I missed the post, but I don't think anyone said they hated the 3-6-9 dial, did they?? I personally like the baton dial a little more, but they're both great designs IMO.

I still say that the Rolex blue dial is one of the. Eat in the watch business. There are others that have beautiful blue dials but there is something about the Rolex blue dial. I have flipped 2 and regret one of them a lot (dj2 blue stick).

This is a very beautiful watch. I'm a huge fan of time-only Rolex and have more than one, including sport, 36mm, and bubble-back variants. There is a non-nonsense cleanliness about the time-only dial that attracts, and maybe the currently ever-rising prices for 1016s and 5513s reflect this.

OP36 is a fantastic model. I have an OP34 that ended up just being too small so my wife wears it. But I still love the look.

Yes, that's a great picture. My OP 39 has arrived and is on my wrist as I type. It's absolutely gorgeous in every detail, a really flawless and beautiful thing. It looks way, way more expensive than it is (the opposite to my 16610). A very strong recommendation and great value.

I'll try to get some decent pics tomorrow, but don't expect anything like that photo above!

OP 36mm are easily my favorite modern Rolex watches, along with 39mm version. Classic and understated, yet FULL of Rolex DNA that drew us to Rolex in a first place!
