RSC Dallas condition report

I just wanted to see if anyone has had a recent service/warranty repair with Dallas RSC.
My 7 month old Submariner 114060 is with them and on the initial report they are saying the bezel is scratched, the bezel insert (ceramic) is lightly scratched, the bracelet and case are scratched.
This is most definitely not the case as the watch has been worn a handful of times and is most definitely not scratched on the bezel insert.
Is this just a way of covering themselves incase they scratch anything?
I'm a bit baffled and shocked at how they described it.

I wouldn't be too concerned. When RSC NY had my GMT they recommend replacing the bezel insert and crystal because of microscopic scratches. Looks fine to me. I think this is a standard thing with them. If you can't see them I wouldn't bother!!

The are just playing it safe. Not because they will scratch, but if they say 'no scratches' and the owner finds even minute scratches, it would be the RSC's problem.

I just had my BLNR serviced with RSC Dallas and the watch's initial assessment was similar to yours despite being in great condition. My watch was returned a few weeks later in similar physical condition as when I sent it in. I can not see the scratches on the bezel and crystal that they described.

Whats the charge for replacement ceramic insert? Mines has a slight scratch.

It's good practice to photograph your watch prior to sending it in. Then you have a frame of reference. I'm sure they are describing exactly what they see under lab conditions.

My BLRO just passed through there last November. My report said the same things. They must look at them through a microscope. Don't worry about it.

Your responses all sound valid.
I had thought that they were "covering themselves" and just found it a bit shocking about light bezel insert scratches on a ceramic insert.
I took a video of it before I sent it in of all angles and areas.
I trust them and they say it will be back end of March due to being closed for a week in March for "process changes"
I guess this may be newer test equipment for the higher standards? I don't know. :-)

Don't fret. They are looking at your watch thru a a magnifying glass. It's their duty to report whatever they see. Simply respond that you don't want your watch polished. The Dallas RSC people are good people.

Around $370-$400 one of the many downsides of ceramic.

As stated above....It's basically Rolex flat out lying about the condition to cover their a** when they scratch the watch (and they do...more often than not). I've sent in brand new watches for warranty repair (yes, with the stickers intact), and they describe the watch as having scratches. Seriously. It's the wrong way to handle your business and it's just another reason why I never use RSC to service my watches. YMMV


Edit: and yeah, that new watch came back with stickers removed and watch all scratched up (just like they 'predicted'!)

So, their description is pretty standard.

So, their description is pretty standard.

It started to suddenly gain 35 seconds in 12 hrs, but not consistently.
It would gain 10 seconds in one hour, then be fine for a few hours.
It only seemed to happen at full wind while wearing and active.

Someone mentioned that something could be loose inside, or that the mainspring wasn't slipping inside its barell correctly when it is riding to its next notch.

RSC said end of March and said its going to be a full movt service and de-magnetization compliments of them.
We shall see.
