When does Rolex announce discontinued models? Or do they?
Do we simply wait and view the yearly calender to know if a model is discontinued? Do they make a formal announcement if a model or specific dial is discontinued or does it just kind of happen out of the blue? With baselworld around the corner it got me curious if anything else will be retired. I remember when the black dial milgauss was discontinued it just kind of disappeared from the paper calender and website without a word (as far as I can remember).
Say for example the deep sea blue was discontinued (unlikely). How and when would we find out? |

Same as us coming in to the world all kicking screaming then just fade away , i think we should be notified just as much as a new model is coming in

Don't recall ever seeing announcements about discontinued models. Just seem to transition from one version to another and it's understood the previous version is no longer made.

I think Rolex unofficially officially retires models when the watches can't be ordered any more, like the Seadweller apparently, or when they vanish from catalogs like the black racing dial on WG Daytonas or the platinum dial on YM I.
I don't recall ever seeing a formal announcement that watches will no longer be made. |

Seems models about to get discontinued show up in increasing numbers on grey sites. Saw it with the Explorer11 and the Daytona and Explorer 1 hand change. Lately seems a lot of nib Milgauss. Likely Rolex loading up AD's and then AD's to the other markets. Perhaps just my imagination .
