Explorer 214270 AD Price
A BNIB Explorer 214270 is $6550 Msrp. What's a fair price to pay from an AD? Can you expect a discount off MSRP or is the price set?
This will be my first luxury watch and I'd like to have an idea of what to expect before walking in the store. Thanks for the insight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Never hurts to ask. Some ADs are more willing than others to cut you a deal. Some members haven't had any luck with discounting, while others have been offered 20% or more. Personally, I've been offered 12% during first time visits.
So YMMY. But any reputable AD would still treat you with respect if you ask. |

Check out the sellers here on the forum if you have no luck getting an AD discount. Typically you could save 1K on an Explorer.

It depends on your relationship with the AD. If you have one, some will give you a good amount off. If you don't I think it's generally pretty hard to do more than 10%. That being said, location matters a lot too. Does your state have sales tax? Having it shipped from an AD outside the state might make things a lot cheaper.
You may also want to look at some of the trusted sellers here. I just bought my 39mm Explorer I last week. It cost me a fraction of what an AD would charge and was essentially brand new, not a scratch on it.

There is no universal "expectation" for any discount-especially for a steel model that's pretty hot right now.
You can always ask...but if you set yourself up that you're going to get a discount, you could very well be disappointed. I think a better way to go would be to look at the FS section here and watchrecon.com and get some kind of an idea of what you can get one for. Then, when you walk into the dealer, you have a number in mind that buying from an AD would be worth it. |

I keep hearing that its easy to get $1K on SS models but in my experience that is not possible at an AD for such watch range of Explorer! I don't think AD will sell the 214270 for $5500(which is over 16% discount) even if you are regular customer unless you are dealer and buy multiple watches in one go.
For a 1st timer, my expectation would be around $6100 for the $6550 priced watch which is around 6-7%. |

I purchased one last week in Florida. The 2016 214270 apparently are still a bit uncommon. Don't ask just for a 214270 as there are two versions of the 214270 Explorer, and even though in a plastic casket, it may very well be the pre-2016 version. If they have to order it, get it in writing that the order is for a 2016 version with lume. Save yourself some grief.
My opinion is that Rolex did no favors for anyone keeping the model number the same. |

Looks like the new ones are going in the $5,500-$5,800 on the grey market.
Plop $6,000 on the table (including tax) and see if they take it. Otherwise call DSW and have it on your wrist by the end of the week. Good luck https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...ghlight=214270 $5,500 https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...ghlight=214270 $5,800

Long time lurker here, first time poster, but I paid $5,900 for a BNIB 2016 Explorer from a trusted seller on this site about a month ago. Very satisfied. Didn't get an absolute steal on it but didn't pay full market price, either. Saved $750 over AD price, who wouldn't budge. Said the 2016 Explorers were selling/moving at full MSRP.

I'm interested in one as well but was going to wait until prices went down and availability went up. Thought about trading my 16610 D Serial but not sure about doing that.

I would ask TD like Davidsw or takuya. AD in my area doesn't give any discount at all.

I bought one in Dec '16 and paid $6,100.00. I just moved and this was my first time in this AD. I'm in a state with no sales tax.
Funny thing, I was wearing my BLRO and I'm pretty sure they knew I was serious. I never even asked about a discount. They said $6,100 and I took it. They did have both the old and the new one. Also got another 1.5% using my CC I have used TS's in the past.

I paid $5,900 from an AD in Dec. Paid all cash and also got them to ship it out of state to save the taxes. It was a good deal just before Christmas. At the time better than TS prices. I might have been able to get better but they took my first offer without blinking
