Negotiating a price on a new Rolex?
Hello all. Fairly new to the forum. First post. So much good information on here. My wife and I's 10 year anniversary approaching and she said I could pick out a Rolex! First one. My current watch is a Tag Carrera so this will be a gradual increase in price depending on what I choose. At an AD is there negotiating room on a Rolex? I read an older article over at a blog to watch that you can get 20% which seems unlikely. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!!!

You might be able to get some % off, but usually AD's are less likely to hit 20% on Rolex because they aren't usually hard to sell. :) Some other brands tend to be around 20%, some even more. |

Asking a merchant for their lowest acceptable price is not a good strategy as they are generally trying to maximize profit. Common wisdom here at TRF is that AD's have a 38% margin to work with. If I was shopping for a watch that listed for 13K I would know the AD was in the watch for about $8,060.00. 20% off is 10,400,00. 18% off is 10660.00. 15% off is 11,050.00. No harm in respectfully offering 10,400.00 out the door cash and see what the response is. If your offer is countered, you will know where your limit is. Credit cards cost the merchant as much as 3.1% and that has to be factored into your offer as does sales tax, if any. You have a lot of choices. If you study a bit here you'll learn that you can save a bundle with several of the top trusted sellers here. I just received a new Rolex watch where I saved almost 32% of what I'd pay an AD here with 7.75% sales tax. I've had 4 smooth transactions here with well regarded trusted sellers with a substantial history. Best of luck to you! |

I'm new too and just went to an AD to look at a BLNR as my first Rolex. So much good info on this forum. I was able to get one of the two BLNR's the AD is getting in the next few days and he assured me of a decent discount so we will see how that goes when it comes in.
