Dropped my DSSD on a tiled floor!

I carelessly managed to drop my DSSD on my tiled bathroom floor earlier in the week. It seems to have suffered no ill effects mechanically but the case side is dinged alonged with the top outer link (see pic attached).
What would you guys recommend I do - send it to the RSC in Dallas?
Thanks
Andy

It's a tank unless it's not running right I wouldn't do anything but have the floor fixed

Thanks Tom - it certainly gives it a certain patina and it did crack the tile! I am just thankful it wasn't my Platona that took the dive

are you 10 feet tall or something ?

That seems aggressive damage for a simple drop on the floor

Four foot less than that. I literally just took it off my wrist with wet hands to put it in my watch box - it probably fell 4ft max.

Fortunately has never happened to me but my wife can't say the same.
She dropped her DateJust on a tiled floor as well.
For folks that can't understand the damage that can do, she is 5'4" but watch fell from an average height kitchen counter, much less than her height.
Destroyed the crystal, hands and dial.
$2800 later, repaired by RSC.
Fortunately it was covered by insurance.

If I had no choice, would leave your watch as is but it would drive me nuts every time I look at it.

Same here, but luckily the only damage was the sapphire crystal.

Momentum, impulse and force. Simple laws of physics!

Yup. Looks to be more than a dent or ding, but part(s)of the steel look to be chipped off?

I Agree. Looks as if the metal is brittle, yet we know that the SS that Rolex uses is not brittle, but rather malleable. Puzzling...

That can be polished out and cleaned up some when you send it for servicing. I'm sure it doesn't look as bad on the wrist.

You are right, the close up pic makes it look worse than reality. The watch is just over 4 years old and I generally send them in the be serviced around the 5 year mark so I might just do this one a bit earlier.

It can only be polished out up to a point.
The position and severity of the damage will limit the success of a polish job.

That's why people are getting damage like that filled by laser welding first before refinishing.

I would keep it as it is - nothing better than a watch that tells your story - adds to the character! Fix the tile and enjoy the war wounds on your DSSD.

I had something similar happen to my LVc and left it. Three years later the watch stopped and the RSC technician said the likely cause was the drop, which probably caused minor damage that eventually caught up to me. Who knows.... but the watch came back working great and looking like new.

Gravity is a SOB sometimes. Sorry to hear about the accident. I'd keep as is... your photo is very close up and it may not look as bad from a distance between your eyes and wrist... especially after some time passes.

If it's bothering you send it in. Personally I would leave it as is, unless it's not running right.
