Explorer ii repair

Any idea how much to repair this? An estimate would be great! My younger brother owns this watch and it fell from his study table. This is exactly why i was against my father giving my younger brother an expensive watch at a very early age....

For that watch I would recommend a full service just encase any glass has found its way into the movement, price wise including crystal around $600-$900

Well some countries are cheaper than others for RSC service, but after service watch will be as good as new plus a two year warranty.

Hack (stop) the watch in case any crystal gets into the movement and causes damage.

happened to me.

first, hack the movement and turn it face down. keep it like that until it's opened and movement removed.

crystal only would be around 200. other than that it depends if glass went into movement.

All the advice is pretty good thus far - but how and where you get it repaired will make all the difference. You can only keep it face down until you hand it to a certified watchmaker with a Rolex parts account who knows how to work on a vintage model (20+ y.o. Expl.II in your pic). As soon as you give it to him/her it will get inverted to inspect. If you ship it somewhere, expect a full service quote as nobody wants to risk the movement with the shards of sapphire floating around.
Good luck in your endeavor.

Happened to me last year...learned a tough lesson. Set it on the bathroom counter and it fell on the tile. Set to RSC NY complete service and replaced one of the hands. It was a 116622 and the moderator was correct, cost was 9 hundred something. When I take a watch off now, it doesn't sit perched over any hard material anymore.

Update: had the watch repaired already and very close estimate to what you guys said! The rsc in said we could have it back after 2 weeks. The glass replacement cost was 6000php or around 120usd and they also replaced the crown and hands minute and hour for a grand total of 35000php or 700usd.

Shards of the sapphire definitely hit the hands. Thats why the repair was 700usd
