I like the name Rolex gave it...Sea Dweller, which is what I'll call it. These "pet names" are not for me. Trying to come up with a "pet name" for a watch is for those that have nothing to do and all day to do it.

Classic case of someone trying too hard to be original and hoping it'll snowball. To your credit though, least it's not from a comic book character, I cringe every time someone mentions his "Hulk"

Yes, but what will you people call the watch when Rolex changes the font from red to white? It will be the same 43 mm watch without the 50th anniversary red font.

Seems if someone has to nickname it........SD50 makes more sense!!

I regard SD50 as an abbreviation instead of a nickname.

SD50 fair enough, but it feels like a back-step to one already known as '4000'.

Don't things get bigger and better as the number increases?

You can't say that because it already has above...

If SD just referred to the SeaDweller and use SkyD for, well you know, that'll eliminate confusion over which is being referred to. People using SD interchangeably between the two is going to create mayhem.

SD43 is good though, or perhaps the SDfidy to keep the rhyme. I'm joking about SDfidy... mostly.

Poly - many, phem - affecting feminine characteristic, us - as in we? I don't think it'll fly, Wilbur.

I don't think this will be the last 43mm Sea Dweller.

But this is the only SD launched to celebrate 50th anniversary and most importantly Rolex advertised it is!

The logical abbrevation is SD50!
