SD 43 Future Variants?

I understand the Sea Dweller has historically been a SS watch only. With the increased case size for this model and strong early sales demand, would Rolex be smart in offering two-tone, PM and or varied dials and bezels. This seems to have been the progression for the sub.

Not sure precious metals can withstand the depth ratings of the Sea Dweller line. Either way, I absolutely hope they don't offer all the things like varied dial choices, etc. I hope the Sea Dweller stays rooted in the heritage in which it was created.

Some would say it's too late. Unless the SD goes back to 40mm and loses the cyclops.

It would be a bit odd if Rolex uses precious metals for the SD, the watch is so big and it won't serve as a tool watch neither as a dress watch

Intuition tells me that won't happen, but Rolex has done some surprising stuff in the last few years.

Regardless, I wouldn't be interested.

You never know but I kinda hope not; the Sea Dweller has historically exemplified the Rolex tool watch.

A PM SD has one extra functionality than SS model............ as diving weight!

A possible PM variation to any models of the SD line is highly unlikely.
Anything else will dilute its "true tool watch" status.

I can't see it with the SD Line. But hell, who'd expected a Cyclops?

It will be interesting to see if they remove the red text after the first year's production.

They didn't do that for the platona, so why now?

There's an internet rumor (so, take this for what it's worth...not much) circulating that the red text is specific to the 50th anniversary edition of the new Sea-Dweller, with subsequent versions reverting to the style of the Submariner and DSSD.

Any things possible and it will be interesting to see.

I'm inclined to think that they will continue with the red liner for a few years as they did originally, and then switch to white. Just a guess ...

I wouldn't be opposed to seeing it but I think the SD / DSSD should be SS only.

Like its predecessors 16610 and 116610, it should stay as a steel watch only as this is the "ultimate" tool watch (after the Deepsea of course). Let the Subs and Yacths take care of precious metals. With regards to colors, again it should remain black, true to its heritage. Red lettering turning to white is not an issue though.

If Rolex sells a ton of SD43 and thinks there's a market for it in all gold then it wouldn't surprise me. Nothing would at this point lol

Rolex knows it has jumped the shark with a lot of people on this already so I think anything's possible now, all depends on the almighty dollar, esp in this downturning market.

But we're almost half way through the year and they're only trickling through so to mark a full year Rolex would have to go to half way though 2018 which would mark the 51st year...?

I don't believe the rumour.
