114060 won't manually wind
Hi all
I've a 2 month old 114060 submariner. I grabbed yesterday after not wearing it for a week and gave it a couple of winds to get it going, and I noticed there was minimal friction. I gave it much more manual winding than it should need - it won't run. There's far less friction when I'm winding it, as compared to when it was working. I can't take it to an AD for a while... any suggestions as to what's broken? As far as I can recall I haven't abused it too much. It seems to work fine as an automatic. When my watches have fully run down they usually get going after about 12 to 15 turns of the crown, with about 40 or so turns for a full windup.
As for the lack of friction in turning the crown, would not guess what the issue is. You make two comments - 'it won't run' and 'it seems to work fine as an automatic' - does the watch run or not?

114060 won't manually wind

It didn't start last night just through manual winding, so I gave it a shake and it ran OK. It's now stopped and definitely won't start with a manual wind. I've given it well over 40 turns. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Is it pre-owned or 2 months from AD Purchase? Sounds like you have a serious problem.
If it from an AD, just take it back ASAP.

BNIB from a private seller with Rolex warranty. Unfortunately I'm in the middle of nowhere and won't be able to take it to the AD until Wednesday week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If watch does not run it's most probably the mainspring then take it back to where it was bought or if you live near a RSC take it there with your warranty card.It could be something simple like the stem screw has come loose thats a simple fix so is changing the mainspring if broken.

Hang in there my friend! I kind of know what you're going thru. I was in Iraq for 8 months with a busted GMT.

Sorry you're having trouble with it. Get it fixed through RSC, and don't let this experience ruin your liking to a great watch.

Do you feel a distinct detent when you pull out the crown? Is there ANY resistance at all when you turn the crown to wind it? It could be a number of issues around the keyless works or the mainspring.

Sounds like the stem just needs to be tightened?

sounds like you need to take it in for service. In the mean time just give it the old "seiko shake."

Nup, no resistance and no sound. And no 'click' when I pull the crown to the winding position. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
