I like the blue dial.

I do agree with your assessment on the weight as that was the first thing i noticed. Im not sure if that is a good thing or not, but when i picked it up i was really surprised how light it actually was for a fairly large watch. To me it almost bordered on feeling flimsy. That could be due to my expectation of mass when i saw it vs the reality of holding it. Anyway, thats not a deal breaker either way, just interesting.

Unfortunately no. I put it on and it really didn't feel good on my wrist. My brother in laws SubM felt way better. I can't recall with absolute certainty what I thought at the time but it didn't feel well balanced on my wrist, especially when compared to my seamaster. The weight was off.

That said, you can't really go wrong with buying that watch sight-unseen since a) a black face is a black face b) you can sell it easily after the fact if you don't like it.

Cheers

Ugh... Debating this endlessly. Not sure if I should stick myself on a waiting list and put a deposit down or just wait and see.

I tend to agree.
A discount will be crucial to my purchasing decision.

May I offer my opinion Sir?

● I believe maxi hour and minute hands with a generous coat of superluminova would have provided greater legibility. The hour hand IMO is just a tad shorter

●Perhaps Rolex should have taken a leaf out of Hamilton's Khaki Aviation watch design on how to overcome the problem of a busy dial.Here.I'll show everyone what I mean by comparing only the hour and minute hand layout of both watches

Thanks for posting your pics and your thoughts.

The first thing that pops into my head is I rarely look at the gorgeous timepiece sitting on my wrist to check the time. LOL!

I've got a blue one on order and will stick with that. I think it's going to be a great watch.

I must be fairly insensate to differences in watch fit. Wearing my Yacht 2 today and I think it fits great on my 7.25 inch wrists. I think the SkyDweller is going to wear just fine.

No. At the event they wanted a 25% deposit to get on the list. I told them that I'd want to sell my other Rolex first because I don't like rotating so many watches in the first place.

The next day I emailed them thanking them for the invite to which they responded that'd they'd email me when a white one arrived. So that could mean that the list is at 0 or maybe they were just being nice.

TL:DR who knows.

Good to know. I got a nice discount on my DJ 2, maybe I should just hold off for now.

I always look at it, especially when I'm in meetings and have a set time to talk. I put it on the desk and monitor the time that way :-)

Disagree, a lot of lists here in the UK are closed.
Even the representative from Rolex was surprised at the price, good luck getting a discount on this. They think it is going to be not far behind with supply of the Daytona

I can see this to some extent, especially with the pricing. Rolex IMHO is being really aggressive on the price and will be moving a lot of units. They could have easily priced it much higher and still had demand.

The thing that is going to make it not be the next daytona with regards to scarcity is that it is competing with the new sea dweller which was released at the same time plus obviously the daytona still has the demand one year after release. If it were not for those other two watches, the Sky dweller in SS would be impossible to find in the UK. Those other two models will only help in being able to acquire the sky dweller with less of a wait.

It will in the UK alas, the "unpopular" Air King is still trading at around retail.

Finally got a chance to open the loot bag that I received from the AD/Rolex. A few extra calories never hurt anyone right?

Thanks for the pics!!

I was originally leaning for the Black dial however, that White Dial is growing on me due to the pics above. Might have to take a look when they are at the AD.

Thank you so much for the pictures!
I think the black one is still legible "enough" but your detailed feedback is highly appreciated! I think the whole dial is a little bit too busy but I still think that this is an awesome watch - especially as the clockwork is very complicated, actually the most complicated one in Rolex's portfilio.

I agree with your TT note but everyone has a different taste. e.g. do I love the TT Sub in blue

Unfortunately, in Ottawa, we have only one Rolex AD left....Howards. They know they are the only show in town and getting any sort of discount worthy is next to impossible. Every time its the "cant discount this model, we are not allowed to" nonsense. They are full of lies and deceit, and have some of the worst business practices. I have tried countless times for them to earn my business and have always ended up dealing with a Montreal AD or Toronto AD with great discounts and shipped to my door here in Ottawa. For now, I simply use to them to go try on references, then order from someone who actually has earned my business. Good luck dealing with these bozos. I hope Rolex decides to add another AD here in Ottawa.

Is the blue dial a sunray dial? Is it the same blue as the new datejust 41? It looks like the new datejust is darker...hard to tell in pictures. Any thoughts?

Hey there!
I've only dealt with Jubilee and Birks for high end purchases. My interactions with one of the sales persons at Howard's was positive but if an AD can get me a discount for a cash purchase then hey, that's where I'll go. The only unknown is whether or not this watch will be backordered everywhere, in which case no AD will offer discounts, or not. Time will tell.
Cheers

Very similar to the DJ 41. And yes, sunray dial (as in, shiny).

The more I look at the new Sky Dwellers, the more appealing they start to become. After scrolling through this thread, I can see that I'm not alone.
