NEWB with question
Hi everyone, i just bought a 6 month old (Z Serial) Submariner two tone, box paper etc, the only problem im having is after i wear it for a day it will only keep time for about 8-10 hours before i have to reset it again, and again.
I wound it 30-40 times and wore it all day like instructed, but still, about 10 hours and it stops. My wifes datejust sits next to mine in the box and keeps time all weekend (30+ hours) I am interested to know if anyone has any answers my guy siad he will look at it but i have to send it off etc. Any insight will be great, the watch is 100% never worn and bought as a gift that found its way to me for $6500 Thanks for having us Mike and Kim |

Hi Mike and Kim. Welcome to TRF
That watch might still be under warranty, if you were the original buyer, then it certainly is. - you get a 2 year warranty, as i am sure you know. Take it to your nearest rolex dealer with a trained watchmaker and they should be able to regulate or fix the problem in hours -if it is not serious. These wathces are mechanical and if the slightest component, is out of sync or postion then the time keeping /power reserve can be greatly affected. Might be easily fixed or it could be more serious- but have a rolex trained watchmaker look at it.

Do you know the person you bought the Rolex from? Maybe they can assist you in taking it to where it was purchased (hopefully locally). Do you have the warranty certificate with the watch, it should list the store it was purchased at... Good luck, let us know.. |

Excellent, they should be able to make this transaction whole, or return it for a refund..

First contact the store and advise them of your action. I would recommend USPS Insured and Registered, it is very reasonable. Let us know when you resolve this...

On an auto wind, there is a slipping bridle (clutch) that has to have enough friction to hold against the sides of the barrel the mainspring is housed in to keep the watch fully wound, but then it must slip to keep the watch from being over-wound and damaging the spring.. If this bridle isn't holding, (it is slipping too much) the watch will never be able to be fully wound. Another possibility is that the auto-wind isn't working, and you are only getting partial power while wearing.. Hard to tell... some tests would have to be done.. You did the right thing by sending it back to get the problem rectified by the seller..
