Cleaning your WG daytona

Yesterday, was a nice day to relax at home, so I decided to clean all my watches.
My WG daytona was one of them, I clean it using a soapy water and brush it with toothbrush (not a baby toothbrush, but a normal ones).
After i was done cleaning, i saw some scratches that i've never seen before.
Can a toothbrush scratch a WG surface?
Or it is a scratches that I probably never notice before I clean it?

Yes, do not use a toothbrush on gold , especially the mirror gold finish on the centre links as it will scratch badly.
Same goes for the mirror stainless steel finish. Now to fix it yourself mask the brushed parts with tape and polish the mirror links gently with a damp cloth and silvo. This will bring back the mirror finish - or take it to your RSC and have them bring it back to factory standard.

Use mild soap and a lint free cloth to clean your Rolex. If it is really dirty, use a high pressure jet of water to blast the dirt away. Wipe dry using a lint free cloth.

That would explain all the extra marks on the shiny parts of the bracelet. I have been sonic caring my watches for a while.

I know

I read at least a couple of threads about using a soft brittle tooth brush to clean your Rolex, but did not read about not using it on polish links

Same here - and that would explain my unexplainable small scratches on the gold. I wouldn't have used a toothbrush if not for seeing the recommendation here too :( *sigh*.

Can a silvo be used for White Gold??
I know that cape cod will screw it.

I never had problem with a SS watch but I can't vouch for WG.
Could it be that it's so clean now so you can see the little tiny scratches?
Also, I only use soft bristle toothbrush, never hard nor medium ones.

use a cape cod cloth only if this doesn't remove the scratches then finish off with this to achieve a true IMHO OEM finish red rouge cloth [shino] from

Wear it, scratch it, love it and RELAX.
RSC will have it looking as new when they service it.

I just can't stand looking at my baby with scratch all over it LOL.
I want to bring it to RSC but my Daytona is only 2 year old. I will probably wait for 1 more year to come.

Mine is 3 months old only, and I don't plan to take it in for service for another 7 years

i've been wearing my WG Daytona for the last 2 months whilst the others are in being serviced, and it has marked pretty badly...... was looking to give it a good clean and hopefully would find a suggestion to getting rid of small scratches (any??)

its like a pimple on your arse kinda thing - bugs the hell out of ya!

anyhow once its cleaned up it will live in its new carbon watch box.....

cheers

Whenever I want the scratches on my TT DJ to go away I simply take off my glasses. Voila, it works every time!
