My very special double incoming
Good morning from Hamburg, Germany where I have one more full day left before returning back home tomorrow.
As some of you know (due to my previous posts) I came here to pick up two special pieces I ordered a year ago. I had come to Germany a year ago here to place my order in person and now it was time for the pick up. And so now, and without further delay I am thrilled to share with you all my adventure which took place Thursday (May 7th). Now I do not have Jocke's picture taking talent... but I believe you will get the idea. My day started with an early wake up in downtown Hamburg. I love the Steigenberger Hotel as its location is second to none. From the Hotel it was time to walk 2 minutes and get the rental car The Passat I ordered soon turned into an Audi and I wasn't going to complain Ahhhh German roads... jut hard to describe the pleasure of driving here.. Pure bliss. Made some Friends along the way And after just 2 hours and a bit of superb driving... It was time to stop for a small coffee break in Kakerbeck for a quick coffee.. Nobody here spoke a word of English and it made things o much more special.. Such nice people Before long I arrived at Kalbe/Milde... My heart was starting to race A few more instructions from the GPS unit and I arrived at the Dornblüth Home and Manufacture. A moment later, Mrs. Dornblüth (Anja) was at the door and I was greeted with her usual great smile and warm welcome. I was nervous setting foot inside their showroom. A year of waiting was finally over. In the center of their showroom was the famous glass table I sat around last year and there it was again. However, this time there was a MAGNIFICIENT display ready for me. Just WOW !!!!! couldn't believe my eyes. The watches were more amazing than I could have ever imagined. Pictures do not do them justice. I asked Anja .."may I touch?".. to which she replied with a smile.."they are yours". Simoply insanity We all sat together, Dirk Dornblüth was with us now too. What an awesome guy.. I asked some questions about winding, servicing etc.. And then I asked if it would be ok to get a picture with all the great Dornblüth Team who all took part in building my watches.. Here they all are !!!! had felt that I took enough of their time and soon it was time o say goodbye. I hit the road back to Hamburg and couldn't stop looking at the time or wiping the smile off my face. The watches come in beautiful wood boxes which allow for safe storage and superb display. A really smart and beautiful idea. I also took a quick pick of the movement. I asked that my Daughters' names be engraved & also the birthdate of the watches. ie: when they were made to work for fist time. Those are the engravings on the outer ring.. Thank you all very much for taking the time to read my review. I couldn't be happier and frankly, cant wait for new models for me to order. If anyone has ANY questions... please feel free and I would be delighted to answer you either here or through PM. Warmest regards to you all and thanks for your great support. Shawn |

Best story I've read here in ages, really from the heart!!!! Beautiful watches. Nice Audi too, is it the new Allroad???? I have a 2004 Allroad and love it despite the fact I've sent both my mechanic's kids to Harvard with repairs.

Hi Jocke,
I went to Wempe and they had the Inverse in stock. What shocked me is that it all of a sudden didn't sing to me at all.. In pictures, magazine I absolutely loved it. But when I had it in my hands in person it did nothing for me. It may be the fact that I just picked up two watches and so my brain was elsewhere. Also, the price they were asking for was just silly.. Cheaper to buy in Canada. I'll be back in September in Germany and will revisit it. The Audi was an S4 diesel.. Car moved like a bat out of hell.. What an amazing car.. A privilege to drive it. Thank you all and I'll be posting some more pics in next few days of the movements, boxes and special tool DB gives away now.. Very cool for me and I'm already thinking about another DB model. Last but not least.. I'd like to thank Phil for his time and patience in helping me with sorting out the issues I had with my pictures. Rgds, Shawn |

Looks like a real fun adventure Shawn, especially meeting the people who actually made your watches.
Congratulations! Wear them in the best of health.
