What is the perfect silver dialed watch on strap?

Hey guys,

I've been searching for a "perfect silver dialed watch on strap" that goes well with a suit at the office or with a t-shirt and shorts in the weekends.

I'm contemplating silver dialed, as I like the idea of being able to change to a lot of different coloured and styled straps.

Should still be in production or available at an AD.

Theres a broad spectre of watches available, show me your suggestions!

could always throw a leather or rubber strap on a 15300 or 15400 RO.

Already have a 15202st which I haven't seen any good strap choices for at the moment.

Saw a guy sporting a red gold 15300 on strap which looked pretty awesome!

Love your 15202!

AP has plenty of strap options for the 15300/15400. It might be a little redundant with your 15202 but if you're putting it on a strap and white/silver dial will be different enough.

Buy the plots and buckle from AP then they have multiple color leather and rubber options. I put my wife's silver dial RO on a AP factory white rubber strap with AP tang buckle. Change up my RG RO skeleton between black and brown leather and thought about getting a black rubber strap but might be too casual for that watch.

I like the VC Overseas with its included strap options, however with its non-standard lugs you're kind of limited to what VC makes for you.

I tried on the new Elite Classic recently - might try it out again.

Also liked the new gold el primero!

Not fixed on a budget - but probably sub 15k.

My local AD received one they are displaying this week, might have to go and try it on! I already kinda have an eye on the WG blue dial, but just can't justify the price difference compared to the 116500ln. Could move it and take the profit towards a WG.

VC did something cool with the multistrap choices for the overseas!
I'll try it on, but i feel my 'genta' spot is taken by the 15202.

Well you're in luck, because Genta didn't design the Overseas, it's was a dude named Jorg Hysek.

I see your point, and I agree. The angular design is similar and I wouldn't want both in my collection either if I already had a 15202.

The selection of silver watches on straps is broad. I suggest focusing on two issues: The ability to find good aftermarket straps and the ease of transfer of the original buckle. Any model from JLC Master collection may be a good choice. Chronographs by Zenith, especially vintage re-issues, may be good too. I would stay away from watches with specialized straps (e.g., JLC Reverso), as your selection of alternatives may not be as plentiful as it is with standard straps.

Finally, wearing a dressy watch with t-shirts and shorts may require some coordination of attire so that everything looks well together. As you're hailing from the European side of the pond, it should not be a problem though :-)

Do you have any pics of the custom straps? Just curious. I was always under an impression that getting straps for AP was an issue (if you compare to Panerai or other watches that take standard straps).

AP Panda (it's not still in production or available at ADs, but is widely available second hand)

I find it very versatile - good for the office, good to wear with jeans and - while I've kept it on steel, photos I've see of it on red, black, rubber, leather have all looked good.

Spot on suggestion!

I wear mine on bracelet too, but, I have the Las Vegas strap for it. There's plenty of straps you can pick up from AP for it too.

That's a good shout. If you are going to do sporty activities with it and sweat, I much prefer rubber to leather. If not a Lange 1 MP.

I like the 5711. The white dial is easier to source too.

Agree with this.

JLC has plently of great silver dial on strap options.

A friend of mine has this one. Date window is a bit annoying, but it's very nice.

Hard to beat the 1815 - dresses up with a black strap or down with a brown strap.
